M40 Self-Rescuer Mask

The M40 self-rescuer mask (also known as an escape mask or self-contained emergency escape breathing apparatus) is a compact, lightweight (less than 2 kg), and ergonomic device designed to provide immediate protection against oxygen deficiency and toxic gases. Easy to wear on the belt or store in a watertight wall-mounted case, it operates with compressed oxygen and offers 30 to 60 minutes of autonomy depending on the user’s level of exertion.

• How the M40 Self-Rescuer Mask works

  Oxygen flow starts automatically as soon as the device is removed from its case. The user inserts the mouthpiece and exhales through a lithium hydroxide filter, which traps carbon dioxide. The purified air is stored in a breathing bag, then re-enriched with oxygen before being inhaled again. This closed-circuit system ensures optimal autonomy by maintaining a constant oxygen level while effectively filtering CO₂.
  This simple, reliable, and autonomous operation guarantees the user’s safety throughout the evacuation.

• Operating procedure for the M40 Self-Rescuer 

  Activation is simple: just open the case, insert the mouthpiece, pinch the nose clip, and breathe. Safety is ensured thanks to an integrated pressure gauge, which allows easy checking of the available oxygen level. Its compressed oxygen technology offers a 15-year lifespan without complex maintenance, consistent breathing comfort, and unmatched reliability even in the most critical emergency situations.
