The SR 500 and SR 500 EX powered respiratory devices are battery-operated units designed to provide reliable protection in challenging industrial environments. They integrate seamlessly with the Sundström respiratory protection system, offering a high-performance alternative to half masks and full-face masks. They are particularly suitable for prolonged work, hot environments, or restrictive working conditions.

The SR 500 standard is intended for industrial environments without explosion risks, while the SR 500 EX is certified for use in explosive atmospheres (ATEX gas and dust zones).

Wide Compatibility with Sundström Facepieces

Both models can operate with two particle filters or combined filters depending on the contaminants present. Filtered air is delivered to the facepiece through a dedicated breathing tube. The system works under positive pressure, preventing contaminants from entering the facepiece and ensuring constant respiratory protection.

The fans are compatible with a variety of Sundström facepieces: respiratory hoods, face shields and welding shields, half masks, and full-face masks. This modularity allows users to adapt respiratory protection to each specific industrial application.

Battery Life and Ease of Use

The SR 500 units feature a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and offer multiple airflow levels: SR 500 standard: 175–240 l/min, SR 500 EX: 175 or 225 l/min. The ATEX version can operate up to 12 hours at 175 l/min with a P3 filter (approximately 7 hours at 225 l/min).

Operation is simple, with a single button for start, stop, and automatic airflow regulation. This ensures constant comfort regardless of changes in pressure or temperature.

Safety and Alarm Systems

The fans include multiple safety features: audible and visual alarms in case of airflow obstruction or insufficient flow, an additional vibration alarm on the standard SR 500, and alerts if airflow drops below the safety threshold (≤ 175 l/min) for the ATEX version.

Ergonomics and Durability

Designed for extended use, the SR 500 is worn on the belt with an adjustable ergonomic harness, allowing excellent freedom of movement. The fans feature IP67-certified electronic encapsulation, providing resistance to dust and moisture. The SR 500 EX additionally features a flameproof design suitable for ATEX environments.
